What is Love? Alright. You know how when you're listening to music from another room, and you're singing along, because it's a tune you really love, when the door closes, or a train passes, and you can't hear the music anymore, but you sing along anyway, then no matter how much time passes when you hear the music again, you're still in the exact same time. That's what it's like. For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people's love and concern for each other. When Daniel gets on stage, and he just sees, like um…an ugly female, he has this reaction to just…scream. And, like I reckon it’s heaps funny, cause the crowd thinks it’s cute, but they don’t know what he’s screaming at. The ultimate test of a relationship is to disagree but hold hands. Now, I'm sitting in class enjoying a late breakfast when out of all the classrooms in the school, she walks into mine! And where does the teacher sit her? Right next to me! Up until now, one could write this off to coincidence. But then she reaches in her bag and pulls out a strawberry Pop-Tart---the very same breakfast pastry I was consuming at that moment! What was I to do? How was I to proceed? Ever had a relationship end in such a way that you never saw it coming, but it was as if an avalanche had hit you, or a firestorm had swept over you, leaving your charred body waiting for the next breeze to blow it into a little drift of ashes? That is ["This Was Pompeii" by Dar Williams] to me. Not anguish-wracked faces, but the shadows left on walls by a nuclear blast. Love can't make you strong 'til love has made you weak. My eyes are an ocean in which my dreams are reflected. Success is more a function of consistent common sense than it is of genius. A perfect method for adding drama to life is to wait until the deadline looms large. |
