I am old enough to know that victory is often a thing deferred, and rarely at the summit of courage... What is at the summit of courage, I think, is freedom. The freedom that comes with the knowledge that no earthly think can break you. But few have spoken of the actual pleasure derived from giving to someone, from creating something, from finishing a task, form offering unexpected help almost invisibly and anonymously. Attitudes are nothing more than habits of thoughts, and habits can be acquired. An action repeated becomes an attitude realized. If I get to pick what I want to do, then it's play...if someone else tells me that I have to do it, then it's work. The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success. Failures are like skinned knees; painful, but superficial. When work, commitment, and pleasure all become one and you reach that deep well where passion lives, nothing is impossible. She gave me a smile I could feel in my hip pocket. There is much to be said for failure. It is much more interesting than success. Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blueprints of your ultimate achievements. |
