Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. In a total work, the failures have their not unimportant place. We must have courage to bet on our ideas, to take the calculated risk, and to act. Everyday living requires courage if life is to be effective and bring happiness. Remember you will not always win. Some days, the most resourceful individual will taste defeat. But there is, in this case, always tomorrow - after you have done your best to achieve success today. Anybody who has been seriously engaged is scientific work of any kind realizes that over the entrance to the gates of the temple of science are written the words: 'Ye must have faith.' It is a quality which the scientist cannot dispense with. You change your life by changing your heart. Instill the love of you into all the world, for a good character is what is remembered. We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion. One problem with gazing too frequently into the past is that we may turn around to find the future has run out on us. It distresses me, this failure to keep pace with the leaders of thought, as they pass into oblivion |
