The first sign of a nervous breakdown is when you start thinking your work is terribly important. Life at any time can become difficult: life at any time can become easy. It all depends upon how one adjusts oneself to life. Seven days without laughter makes one weak. The way to learn to do things is to do things. The way to learn a trade is to work at it. Success teaches how to succeed. Begin with the determination to succeed, and the work is half done already. Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as you can change your beliefs. To change is difficult. Not to change is fatal. What more felicity can fall to creature, than to enjoy delight with liberty? Why not be oneself? That is the whole secret of a successful appearance. If one is a greyhound why try to look like a Pekinese? We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.
