Write down the advice of him who loves you, though you like it not at present. Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone. He who allows his day to pass by without practicing generosity and enjoying life's pleasures is like a blacksmith's bellows: he breathes but does not live. Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day. Wonder is the beginning of wisdom. Stupid people always think they are right. Wise people listen to advice. Where there is no vision, the people perish. Speak the truth, but leave immediately after.
