If anyone says, 'I love God,' yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen (1 John 4:20). If God is for us, who can be against us. (Romans 8:31) If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13) If you and your children fare well, and your affairs be to your contentment, I give very great thanks to God, having my hope in heaven. If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right, you will never plant anything and never harvest anything. In every good work trust thy own soul; for this is the keeping of the commandments. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. (Psalms 56:11) In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. (Psalms 56:4) In her tongue is the law of kindness. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. (2 Samuel 22:31) |
