When I get ready to talk to people, I spend two thirds of the time thinking what they want to hear and one third thinking about what I want to say. With firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us finish the work we are in...to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves. You can have anything you want - if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose. Most folks are about as happy as they make their minds up to be. Do not worry; eat three square meals a day; say your prayers; be courteous to your creditors; keep your digestion good; exercise; go slow and easy. Maybe there are other things your special case requires to make you happy; but, my friend, these I reckon will give you a good life. All that I am or hope to be I owe to my angel mother. I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing. Avoid popularity if you would have peace. Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. |
