The real friend is he or she who can share all our sorrows and double our joys. I've never known any human being, high or humble, who ever regretted, when nearing life's end, having done kindly deeds. But I have known more than one millionaire who became haunted by the realization that they had led selfish lives. It isn't success if it costs you the companionship and chumminess and love of your children. Ideas are the raw material of progress. Everything first takes shape in the form of an idea. But an idea by itself is worth nothing. An idea, like a machine, must have power applied to it before it can accomplish anything. Don't forget until too late that the business of life is not business but living. |
