If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, as found in the Bible, all of India would be Christian today. If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning. If we are to respect others' religions as we would have them to respect our own, a friendly study of the world's religion is a sacred duty. Indolence is a delightful but distressing state, we must be doing something to be happy. Justice does not help those who slumber but helps only those who are vigilant. Peace will not come out of a clash of arms but out of justice lived and done by unarmed nations in the face of odds. Live as if your were to die tomorrow. Love never claims, it ever gives; love never suffers, never resents, never revenges itself. Where there is love there is life; hatred leads to destruction. Men and women approaching retirement age should be recycled for public service work, and their companies should foot the bill. We can no longer afford to scrap-pile people. Men say I am a saint losing himself in politics. The fact is that I am a politician trying my hardest to become a saint. |
