Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone. I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them. Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction. Painting is a jeu d'esprit. Well, youth is the period of assumed personalities and disguises. It is the time of the sincerely insincere. Anything new, anything worth doing, can't be recognized. People just don't have that much vision. Success is dangerous. One begins to copy oneself, and to copy oneself is more dangerous than to copy others. It leads to sterility. Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Give me a museum and I'll fill it. |
