Peace if possible, truth at all costs. Peace is more important than all justice; and peace was not made for the sake of justice, but justice for the sake of peace. Prayer is a strong wall and fortress of the church; it is a goodly Christian weapon. The claims of no people, according to established policy and usage, are respected by any nation, until they are presented in a national capacity. The fewer the words, the better the prayer. The whole being of any Christian is faith and love. Faith brings the man to God, love brings him to men. There is no justification without sanctification, no forgiveness without renewal of life, no real faith from which the fruits of new obedience do not grow. I cannot believe that my illness is natural. I suspect Satan, and therefore I am the more inclined to take it lightly. |
